Guidelines
There are two ways to sign up to tell a story.
If you know for sure that you want to tell a story on a given night, sign up for a spot by emailing us at secretlyall@gmail.com and let us know.
If you are unsure, or all the slots are already filled (which happens pretty quickly), don’t worry! You still have a chance. You can put your name in the hat during intermission, to be drawn during the second half of the show. (We call this half the “wildcard” portion.)

Some guidelines to help you out/give you an idea of what we’re looking for:
- Story = five to seven minute true tale (no fiction, no monologues, stand up, poetry etc.) with a clear beginning, middle and end.
- The best stories are those that are practiced beforehand. We find that the more you practice your story, the better it will flow and the better it will sound. And the saner you will feel up there. It’s tempting to wing it, and some people are great at that, but we strongly encourage you to tell it to someone, even if it’s just your mirror, at least three times before you try it up onstage. This will help you see what your clear beginning middle and end are.
- While you’re practicing, time yourself. It’s easy to forget how fast seven minutes goes. You have a captive audience, don’t make them regret that.
- Let it be exhilarating!
Oh, and you can’t be in the line-up two months in a row, so again, check out our upcoming themes to make sure you don’t have a better story for the next month.
